Year 7 Transition and Summer School

Skills 2 Succeed

A fun-packed programme that introduces your younger students to essential life skills. It is the ideal platform on which to build all future work-related learning.

According to best selling author Stephen Covey, beginning with the end in mind is critical for success. Even though working life may seem a long way off for a student in Year 7 or 8, it’s never too early to lay the right foundations. This workshop establishes the skills your students will need in the future and gives them a chance to practise those skills using fun, ‘real world’ activities. It can also be used as a summer induction for Year 6 students who will be entering your school in the new academic year.

The main areas of focus are reliability, communication, responsibility, teamwork, problem solving and respect – all of which are key elements for success in school and beyond.

  • Imitate the world of work by operating in non-friendship teams
  • Practise key employability skills by taking part in kinaesthetic activities
  • Develop a drive to succeed and a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Use creative skills to solve problems
  • Be encouraged to move out of their comfort zones
  • Enjoy fun, stimulating challenges that develop PLT skills
  • Be enthused by our motivational, audiovisual presentation

• All of the resources and printed materials required to run the event
• Highly experienced staff to lead the event
• Prizes to add to the excitement!

Your school will receive a comprehensive evaluation of the learning experience, based on student and staff feedback.

What Students Say...

Today was epic! I thought it was going to be boring but it was really good fun. I didn’t know anyone in my group but now we’re all friends. I really liked all of the activities, we didn’t win but it didn’t matter.
